MY WORK, WORKSHOPS, CRAFT FAIRS
Melanie Russell Mosaic Artist

I work from my home studio in Market Overton in the beautiful county of Rutland, England. My style of mosaic making is known as 'pique assiette' (which translates as 'stolen from plates') or 'memory ware'. It is the ultimate form of recycling for anyone who appreciates seeing vintage china reimagined as a piece of art - as well as being a perfect way to remember someone special.
WORKSHOPS 2026
As well as making and selling my art, I offer one-day workshops on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays. This is a lovely way to spend time with like-minded folk - or, as one recent participant described it, "... a fabulous day... a real creative escape!".
I have an extensive collection of vintage china for participants to choose from, plus embellishments.
A craft workshop is a great social activity but it's also very mindful, for anyone in need of some creative therapy. The timings are usually 10am to 4pm. I offer various standard base templates for participants to work on (some of these are seasonal), as well as being open to creating new designs or supporting personal projects. I encourage people to bring their own china and other bits & pieces along (e.g. costume jewellery, shells, beads) to make their mosaic project more meaningful.
One-day (10am-4pm) workshop cost:
4-8 people: £75 per person
3 people: £80 per person
2 people: £90 per person
1-1 session: £100
All tools and materials, plus refreshments & treats, are included in the cost of workshops. Participants should bring their own packed lunch. Parking is available. I will send more details on final confirmation & payment.
I am currently taking bookings (email me at melt70@hotmail.co.uk) for the below workshops:
